Drug law reform is an essential component of a modern democratic society. To rely on policy set during the 70s – now deprives New Zealand citizens the right to choose for themselves how they should live their lives. A major factor to consider is the refusal by the people to abide by the current misuse of drugs act with a clear majority of an accepted 64% of the population wanting the current laws totally amended to address this disparity in the law.
