I’ve been working with drug issues for four decades. I’ve addressed conferences across the world, written over 50 articles on the subject, been an expert advisor to the UN and I am in no doubt whatsoever, the damage and devastation caused by bad drug policies is far greater than the harm posed by drugs.
I know from all my direct work and research that our current drug policies are doing serious harm, especially to the poor, Māori and minority ethnic groups.
We must instead develop drug policies rooted in evidence, science, human rights and harm reduction.
